American Wind Energy Association Standards Development Committees

AWEA is an accredited standards development body for American national consensus standards. As the secretariat, AWEA organizes the committees that develop and maintain voluntary national consensus standards for the wind energy industry, ensures that the process for revision of standards are timely and in accordance with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Essential Requirements procedures, and publishes the final product of the consensus process.

The AWEA Standards Development Committees are responsible for the development and maintenance of proposed American National Standards (ANS), recommended practices (RPs), or technical reports (TRs), per ANSI Essential Requirements. The committees consist of sufficiently diverse members, delegates, and contributing members to ensure reasonable balance.

The consensus standards process is open to all persons who are directly and materially affected by the standard being developed. Contact us if you would like to join a committee. Click here to view the AWEA Standard Development Procedures and click here to view the AWEA Antitrust Guidelines.
